A/V Innovations

Posted on 29 December 2007 by admin

Audiovisual technologies facilitate and enhance communication capabilities, but it is vital that their integration into your existing technology infrastructure be expertly conducted through proper and appropriate system designs. Audiovisual equipment refers to equipment and applications that deal with sound and sight. The audiovisual world includes microphones, audio tape recorders, audio mixers, sound systems, analog and digital cameras both still and video, film projectors, slide projectors, VCRs, CD players/recorders and DVD players/recorders, multi-functional devices and computer controlled sound and video systems.

The installation and integration of all equipment pieces into a working system is a complex engineering task. In order to make the audiovisual system functional with differing needs and technical know-how, the end-user interface design often requires customized solutions. In the audio industry, audiovisual innovations include projectors, screens, monitors, cameras and plasma displays. Broadcasting companies are creating a revolution in how we get and listen to audio. Innovation in this field means a compelling product portfolio that delivers complete audio solutions for performance audio, for computers, the internet, for home, for life–in short, for every conceivable need.

Audiovisual home service providers can seamlessly integrate almost anything—media walls, touch screen panels, speakers, structured cabling, etc., into your existing components or into the architectural integrity of any room. These innovations have not only enhanced entertainment but have also been useful for education. The use of audio visual equipment in teaching has made it possible to break geographical barriers and reach out to a wide range of students. Greater interaction between the teacher and the student has been made possible by integrating traditional knowledge with innovative means of reaching out to students.

For ensuring the right usage of any new technology some amount of regulation is essential. The audio-visual regulatory framework imposes a certain amount of control on the content providers. It redefines ’broadcasting’ by distinguishing between linear services and non-linear services. Linear services comprise of scheduled broadcasting on television platforms as well as the internet and on mobile phones. Linear services would be subject to the same rules as those which apply to broadcasting. Non-linear services comprise non-scheduled broadcasting including video-on-demand and web based news. Regulation would ensure that innovation happens in positive and constructive ways.

Transportation World Records

Posted on 28 December 2007 by admin

These days, there seems to be a Guinness World Record for just about everything. From how many hot dogs a person can eat in one sitting to the largest kidney stone ever recorded, records are not only made to be broken, but they are made to be remembered. Transportation, jumping on the Guinness bandwagon, also has its fair share of world class anomalies.

Highest Limousine
Many people may find themselves high the instant they set foot in a limousine, the glitz and the glamour lifting their spirits. But, for those who take a ride in Gary and Shirley Duval’s 1998 creation, spirits aren’t the only thing lifted.

The Duval’s limo is parked in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest limousine ever made. Measuring 10 feet 11 inches - from the ground to the top - this limo took more than 4,000 hours to build and contains an eight wheel independent suspension system as well as two engines. Sitting atop eight monster truck tires, this limo definitely commands the road, leaving both onlookers and passengers in awe.

Heaviest Car Balanced on a Person’s Head
With the days of people balancing books or buckets of water on their heads apparently over, people now see how heavy of a car they can keep teetered on their skull. No matter how this even came to be a thing - perhaps a double dog dare or an alcohol enlightened moment - the record now belongs to John Evans.

Evans, a man who has balanced everything on his head from people to beer, balanced a 352 pound car on his head on May 24, 1999 in London. A man who is large in size, 343 pounds, Evans also possesses an abnormally large neck; its circumference measures 24 inches. He declares himself a “Professional Head Balancer” by occupation, leaving us to wonder what kind of medical plan his career choice offers.

Longest Tractor Ride
When glancing at a rearview mirror in a car, a person isn’t likely to see a tractor trailing behind them, moseying on down the highway. But, if Vasilii Hazkevich is on the road, this sight might not be so foreign.

Hazkevich holds the world record for most miles traveled by tractor. Covering 13,172 miles across Vladimir, Russia on an unmodified tractor, Hazkevich’s journey began on April 25, 2006 and ended that following August. We aren’t sure just how fast the tractor went, but chances are no speeding tickets were handed out.

Largest Pedal-Powered Vehicle
The folks at Guinness World Records probably look at tandem bikes and even three or four person bikes and laugh, rolling their eyes and muttering, “Amateurs.” They have something better: a bike that holds 82 riders, or, in bicycle terms, 164 legs and 164 feet.

Built in Sweden by the Hägglunds Marine Septoped Sällskap, this bicycle took to the streets on September 3, 2005. Seemingly designed for a caterpillar, this bike allows entire families (both sides) and entire businesses to ride their bikes together. Now, all it needs is 82 baskets and 82 bells and, perhaps, 82 decks of cards to put inside the wheel spokes.

Largest Motorcycle
Motorcycles may seem dangerous, after all they are tiny and anything tiny is no match for a large car or truck. That notion dispelled, Gregory Dunham built a motorcycle that makes even the largest automobiles look like match box cars.

Measuring 11 feet three inches high, and weighing 6,500 pounds, this motorcycle requires both a helmet, and a ladder.

The Computer Classification Project

Posted on 27 December 2007 by admin

Computers are available in different shapes, sizes and weights, due to these different shapes and sizes they perform different sorts of jobs from one another.

They can also be classified in different ways. All the computers are designed by the qualified computer architectures that design these machines as their requirements.

A computer that is used in a home differs in size and shape from the computer being used in a hospital. Computers act as a server in large buildings, while the computer also differs in size and shape performing its job as a weather forecaster.

A student carrying a laptop with him to his college is different in shape and size from all the computers mentioned above.

Here we are going to introduce different classifications of computers one by one. We will discuss what are in classifications and what job they perform.

Super computer

The biggest in size, the most expensive in price than any other is classified and known as super computer. It can process trillions of instructions in seconds. This computer is not used as a PC in a home neither by a student in a college.

Governments specially use this type of computer for their different calculations and heavy jobs. Different industries also use this huge computer for designing their products.

In most of the Hollywood’s movies it is used for animation purposes. This kind of computer is also helpful for forecasting weather reports worldwide.

Mainframes

Another giant in computers after the super computer is Mainframe, which can also process millions of instruction per second and capable of accessing billions of data.

This computer is commonly used in big hospitals, air line reservations companies, and many other huge companies prefer mainframe because of its capability of retrieving data on a huge basis.

This is normally to expensive and out of reach from a salary-based person who wants a computer for his home.

This kind of computer can cost up to thousands of dollars.

Minicomputer

This computer is next in he line but less offers less than mainframe in work and performance. These are the computers, which are mostly preferred by the small type of business personals, colleges, etc.

Personal computers

Almost all the computer users are familiar with the personal computers. They normally know what the personal computer is and what are its functions.

This is the computer mostly preferred by the home users. These computers are lesser in cost than the computers given above and also, small in size; they are also called PCs in short for Personal computers.

This computer is small in size and you can easily arrange it to fit in your single bedroom with its all accommodation. Today this is thought to be the most popular computer in all.

Notebook computers

Having a small size and low weight the notebook is easy to carry to anywhere. A student can take it with him/her to his/her school in his/her bag with his/her book.

This is easy to carry around and preferred by students and business people to meet their assignments and other necessary tasks.

The approach of this computer is also the same as the Personal computer. It can store the same amount of data and having a memory of the same size as that of a personal computer. One can say that it is the replacement of personal desktop computer.

The Science of Solar Energy

Posted on 23 December 2007 by admin

Knowing what solar power is, thats your first step in finding solar energy. Energy from the sun is simply solar energy, it is produced when the sun is out and shining, it sends heat beaming to the earth. Where is solar energy? Its anywhere that the sun shines upon. Millions of people have throughout time saved this energy, to provide warmth in cold weather. Many years ago (thousands of years) people discovered that using thick glass or magnifying glass on certain objects that they could heat it up so hot that it would ignite. People realized the value and power of this natural energy.

One of the difficulties with catching the sun’s energy is that it is spread out, it is not directed to one area. This makes it hard to heat an object using only the suns rays. It is a fact that an object will get hot out in the sun, but there is so much more untapped potential from the sun’s rays.

What is needed is a solar collector, this will very effectively heat your room at night time, and when there is cloud cover. You need to utilize a source which will captivate the suns rays to a particular area, the sun will pass through it and go in the space. Items within the space attract and keep this heat apart from the suns rays, and cannot escape without the assistance from the source. One great collector of solar energy is glass because it lets the sunlight go through it and into the space, the suns heat cannot escape easily causing this space beneath the glass to heat up. There are items within the space to retain heat making the space warmer longer. This area has just been heated utilizing solar energy.

Sun rooms and greenhouses use glass because its a terrific common solar collector, heat is trapped in the interior after the glass attracts the suns rays, Even when the thermometer drops outside the interior stays warm.

Solar Power is everywhere that the sun light falls upon. To keep your house warm in the evening, you need direct sunlight for a great amount of time during the day, not just an hour or two, but who knows what future technology can bring, there is enough power from the sun to heat a home all night from collecting only a few hours of focused light, but we are not able to utilize it yet.

Zune Movies - You’ll Never Be Bored Again

Posted on 22 December 2007 by admin

They say great things come in small packages. This can’t be any truer than the new Zune portable multimedia player from Microsoft. This miniscule gizmo never fails to impress with its crisp audio, realistic video, FM radio, 80GB capacity, and - brace yourself - Wifi connectivity. Whether you want to listen to music or even watch Zune Movies, you can expect great things from this little gadget.

Break Through with a Cutting Edge

Watching high definition Zune Movies in such a small device is a huge breakthrough in technology, no doubt about it. But how do you know that the movies you’re downloading are the right movies?

You need cutting-edge software to download movies to Zune player. After all, you want to have the best quality movies there are, whether you’re in the mood for a Hollywood blockbuster or a smart independent flick. It’s just a matter of knowing what you want and where to look for it. With Zune Empire, you need not look any further. You’ll be surprised to know that you can indeed find everything you want in one place.

Get Down on the Load or Let it Rip!

With the right software, a video download is easy enough to do. You can choose from a very wide selection of available Zune movies. With a couple of clicks on your mouse and a few taps on your keyboard, you’ll be downloading movies directly into your player in no time.

If you don’t feel like downloading movies because you’d rather use your own DVD collection, you’re still in the right place. You can simply rip your DVD movie, spectacular pictures, sound, and all.

Because the player can only play MPEG-4 videos, you can then convert this ripped DVD format into the required format with the movie converter. You need not be worried about losing high definition video or high quality sound because the Zune movie converter will in no way compromise the movies’ sound and picture quality. Furthermore, you have the option to resize and link different video files together - perfect for those TV shows and movie trilogies and quadrilogies.

Anyone Can Enjoy Zune Movies

Indeed, the right software is every techie’s dream. After all, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for Zune Movies.

If you’re not such a gadget-freak, however, you may be less than enthusiastic and probably a little worried. Yes, you do want your movies, but you are quite overwhelmed by the Zune’s obvious technicality. Well, you’ll be pleased to know that the software is designed to be user-friendly with its easy user interface and numerous functions. Even the most technically-challenged can get things done. Besides, you’ll be supported all the way, so you’ll have those Zune movies no matter what.

Whether you’re a techie or technically-challenged, a gadget-freak or a novice, young or old, male or female, gay or straight, you’ll surely enjoy watching Zune Movies from your Zune player. You’ll never be bored again - ever.

Listen To Audio Books Online - History Repeats Itself

Posted on 21 December 2007 by admin

I have tried to convince many friends to listen to audio books online. This really is not any different to reading a regular book, except that someone else’s voice does the reading for you. Apparently the move from the ‘traditional book’ to a compact disc or mp3 has resulted in a large group of skeptical people who doubt that it is possible to truly appreciate a novel by listening, rather than physically reading. Funnily, it is actually the younger people that are harder to convince to give it a go.

Because my grandmother had grown up listening to stories told on the radio she was more than willing to listen to audio books online - in fact, she found it a pleasure as she could sit quite comfortably, do her cross stitch or even do the gardening while she listens to the recordings. Audio books have been around for a very long time, in fact, many of our grandparents grew up listening to the British Broadcasting Company with its serialized classics. History shows that as early as 1933 an anthropologist J.P. Harrington researched and recorded the oral histories of the Native American tribes.

The American Congress saw a need to provide extra resources for people with sight impairment, and as a result the “Books for the Adult Blind Project” was initiated. This project was the stepping stone for audio books or ‘talking books’ and before long the mass reproduction of them began. In later years the National Library Service provided a much needed public-service for blind citizens across America by recording millions of books in an audio format.

Audio Books and Popular Culture

Massive advancement in technology has driven the audio book online format into the reach of consumers who embraced the development with enthusiasm. It was in the early 1960’s when the introduction of the portable cassette player recorder allowed ease of use. This coincided with the ever increasing popularity of the pursuit for self-improvement. This style of recordings, with emphasis on instructional or educational subjects, became very popular. Self-help audio-books were well and truly in vogue and the initiative was expanded to include audio books on a wide variety of general topics such as the humanities.

Audio book recordings became even bigger and quickly a market was created that catered for people wanting to rent popular titles. Listening to audio book online became a multi-billion dollar industry and producers helped the industry grow by introducing high-quality recordings done with large casts of voices.

Today, the audio book concept has embraced leading edge technology which has made the product much more accessible to the general public than ever before. The vast array of product available can now be easily downloaded from the web and its formats incorporated into any digital listening device such as cell phones, MP3 players and iPods. In view of this modern and cutting edge tools, it is highly likely that the young people of today might even gain an appreciation for a classical author such as Jane Austen or William Shakespeare.

It is ironic that the advent of the audio book online has not fully replaced printed books version but instead has only highlighted the joys of books in general.

10 Things I Hate About Internet Marketers

Posted on 20 December 2007 by admin

Hopefully, someone will agree with me that there are some internet marketing techniques that are really annoying. Here is my top 10 list of hates:

The Rolling One time offer. This is the one time offer that seems to go on forever. You skip one offer only to be met with a further offer. This time it is either an upsell or a downsell. By the time you get to the page to download your product you have forgotten what you ordered in the first place.

I will give you three reasons that I really hate the rolling one time offer. Firstly, they are time wasting. Surprisingly, I really do have better things to do than spend 10 minutes scrolling through the pages and clicking over. If I want to buy your product don’t make me jump through hoops to get it! Secondly, if the one time offer is really a product that enhances the original offer why not try selling a complete product rather than making an assembly line production.

The final reason that I hate some one time offers is that the offer lacks value or relevance. For example, if I have bought a product on creating your own products do I really want a package of ebooks on Bad Breath? The answer is no. When I see these offers I am always reminded of when you receive an unexpected but welcome guest at Christmas. In order to ensure that they know you care and haven’t been forgotten gift wise you rummage through the pantry looking for anything that can be packaged up and given as a gift.

The patronising sales letter. I am really fed up of being told that it is a “no brainer” not to buy some product. Whatever happened to customer relations and common courtesy? If my accountant spoke to me like that in the offline world he wouldn’t be my accountant for any longer. The job of the internet marketer is to educate and promote while building customer relations. Being rude is not in the job description.

The copycat product. Often you will see a product that you desire from the pre-launch stage. Everything about the product you can envisage making your business bigger, better and more efficient. It is the answer to your prayers. The only problem it is too much money. A few weeks later out comes the cheap copycat product. It has less features but the price is right. Out comes the wallet. From then on it is only disappointment. If only the copycat product worked as well as you imagine the real deal worked you could be lying in a hammock on a beach living the internet marketers dream.

The try hard marketers. These are the marketers that have provided no social proof that they are earning an income online but have decided to go into the make money niche. Every newsletter contains an affiliate link to products they are promoting and not once do they offer any advice, information or content that they have actually thought of and tested themselves.

Autoresponders. Most auto responders come with pretty simple instructions - and a help desk to assist you if you can’t get your auto responder messages working properly. Why then, do I receive so many emails in my inbox that start: “Dear {firstname}”. What always makes me smile is that these messages are generally from the internet marketing gurus that implore everybody to test everything! Obviously, no-one is testing the auto responder sign up system.

Too many ads. Once you have negotiated a maze of one time offers to get to your download page you are then confronted by an even more promotions. Sometimes, I think that I need a magnifying glass to find the download link in amongst the ads for hosting, domains, autoresponders and anything else that has an affiliate program.

The unadvertised bonus. A bonus should be something relevant to the product and of some real value. Most of the unadvertised bonuses I have been on the receiving end lately are like road kill. Best left for someone else to clean up. To make matters worse most marketers can’t write a simple sentence of what the bonus is, but prefer the lazy “click here for unadvertised bonus”. Has it ever occurred to a marketer that their bonus is not unique, it is probably gathering dust on hard drives around the world and I might like to have a choice whether I download it or not. But before I “click here” I would like to know what it is!

The overuse of the butterfly marketing manuscript and the viral friend generator. Don’t get me wrong, I love both of these products but they are over used in the market place and often inappropriately used.

The upsell. When you have finished wrestling with the decision to buy a product and budgeted accordingly. You decide to take the plunge and get out the wallet. You have justifed the expense because you have been told that it will be $X. You didn’t want to spend $X but if you cut back on the essentials of life like chocolate and wine you can buy it. Just. And then you are confronted with the upsell.

The upsells that have really torn me lately are for the tutorial products. The videos that guide you through the process that forms part of the package. According to whoever is launching the product while you could certainly get results with the basic package if you really wanted to copy their methods you will need the upsell. I have only one thing to say…. if you are selling a “system” of doing something - sell the system not part of it. Now, how about some honesty in marketing?

My all time hate is the pop ad up that hovers on half of the page. I am convinced that the reason this pop up is used that the marketer couldn’t afford to hire a copyrighter and there is, in fact, nothing under that pop up worthwhile reading.

That’s my top 10 of things I hate about internet marketers. Think carefully when you use any of the above marketing techniques they may just be causing your visitors to hit “unsubscribe”.

Some Unknown Truths of Global Warming

Posted on 19 December 2007 by admin

The issue about global warming rages around us and blankets our lives with its facts and fiction. It is influenced through propaganda from both sides. Why? Each side has an agenda that seems to be backed up by facts. There is some extremely laughable information available on the internet and there is also plausible information. It is up to us to understand what applies to our daily actions and what we can do about global warming.

It is all around us. It is on the weather stations. It faces us when we decide to purchase a new car or even a cleaning product. The real issues come when trying to learn about global warming. There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet and there is not one group that can agree on all aspects of the global warming debate.

Over the past century, with out a doubt, global temperatures have risen. While the rise in temperature has been only a degree or so, the concern is whether the Earth’s temperatures will continue to rise and what impact that will have on the environment. The controversy about the warming of the earth is a result of conflicting evidence.

The fact that global warming also occurred in the prehistoric era is a scientific point. Some think a large meteor hitting the planet caused an big change in the earth’s temperature. Is that what killed the dinosaurs? Science cannot prove this conclusively yet. The political and industrial lobbies further complicate conversations about global warming. The contention of these groups is that, we currently do not know enough about the effects of global warming to limit industrial emissions.

When will we know the full facts about global warming and will the global warming issue be resolved anytime soon? Unfortunately the answer is no. There will continue to be studies performed and there will always be a measure of doubt clouding the minds of citizens around the world. Perhaps, when enough data comes through, we will be able to make a determination based on scientific fact rather than theory. Until then we can continue to monitor the progress of scientists and try to do our part in conserving the environment.

Red Rings of Death - Xbox 360

Posted on 18 December 2007 by admin

Xbox 360 had been a very good gaming console, and we knew that it performed way better than pS3. But, recently there is a lot of issue around Xbox 360 red rings of death. From the red rings of death error causes to Microsoft’s promise to temporary fixes all over the net and to final solution had been gaining a lot of attention. So, lets discuss on the problem and its possible solutions in this article.

The real cause for red rings of death is not known to 100% accuracy, but the most discussed cause is “overheating of Xbox” and Microsoft failing to adopt proper cooling mechanisms within the Xbox. This has lead Microsoft into real problems and widespread hatred. Lets see what Microsoft is upto regarding this issue.

So, does Microsoft stand upto defend its product? Yes, indeed. Microsoft has promised to replace or repair all the consoles which are affected by these dreaded red rings of death error. But again this problem doesn’t seem to be fixed. Even after replacing some of the consoles, the new console again proves to have the same problem. Even the Xboxs which were repaired and sent back again felt victim for the dreaded “Xbox 360 red rings of death” problem. So, is there a solution, Read on…

There seems to be a wide spread temporary fix for this problem all over the net. Its the infamous “Towel Method”. Yes, i have tried it on my Xbox 360. Do you know what, It Works! But just after two or three days the red rings of death problem arises again. But, it can fixed temporarily again using the same method. My serious recommendation would be to not use this method. Its like sabotaging your own Xbox. This method will cause more serious problems in the long run and its not a permanent fix either. I recently found a permanent fix for this problem.

Yes, there is a permanent fix for the problem of “Xbox 360 red rings of death”, and has nothing to do with involving Microsoft either. I found out a guide online which gave me the exact methods to repair my Xbox with just some tools which can be found in the household. It had clear step by step video instructions on how to fix my console and abolish red rings of death problem. Now am happy that I found this guide and can play my halo3 again in my brand new Xbox with out those ugly red rings of death.
